Happy Birthday, Laura Ingalls Wilder

It's been 153 years since America's beloved Laura Ingalls Wilder was born. She was born on February 7, 1867 in Pepin, Wisconsin.

Happy birthday, Laura Ingalls Wilder!

Laura's books engage readers with part of America's past. Children and adults alike appreciate the way she fictionalized her life to make readers love the Ingalls family-despite their flaws.

It may be Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthday, but consider treating yourself to a book!

If you've read all of the Little House books and want to read more of Laura's writing, consider Laura Ingalls Wilder: Writing from the Ozarks (edited by Stephen W. Hines). It's a collection of essays by Laura that originally appeared in the Missouri Ruralist between 1911 and 1924. You might also be interested in The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder (edited by William Anderson). Or maybe the gift book series called Writings to Young Women on Laura Ingalls Wilder. You can choose from Wisdom and Virtues, On Life as a Pioneer Woman, or As Told by Her Family, Friends, and Neighbors.
